Since 2012, we have supported men transitioning out of homelessness.

From crisis to productivity.

Humble Beginnings.

Ten years ago, Barry Segal purchased Court Street Place, which was formerly a Red Cross emergency shelter. Leveraging the resources of his construction company, he was able to convert the property into a livable housing unit, which now houses 10 men.

Additional Services.

In addition to housing, we hope to provide our tenants with supplemental services, such as job training, life skill classes, and mentorship programs. We also aim to provide our tenants with necessities like clothing, toiletries, and internet access.

Next Steps.

Court Street Place has a bright past and an even brighter future. To expand our mission and best serve the Ithaca community, we are planning to file for 501(c)(3) tax status, recruit a board of directors, apply for grant funding, hire on-site volunteers, and more!

Court Street Place’s vision is to bridge homelessness and self-sufficiency, working with individuals towards a common goal of restoring lives. It is a 501(c)(3) organization that provides affordable, permanent transitional housing for male individuals experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity in the Ithaca area.

We house at-risk individuals with a myriad of different backgrounds, but each resident is connected by the common thread of a commitment to recovery and independence. While Court Street Place was founded with the faith and hope that is rooted in Jesus Christ, it is a nonsectarian organization that accepts men of all races, ethnicities, faiths, and backgrounds based solely on their need for help.

Once residents have moved in, we provide support, encouragement, and aid in attaining the life skills necessary to integrate successfully back into society. This includes working with local businesses to secure residents’ employment so they can have a stable income. The overarching goal is to provide a safe, clean living environment that facilitates rebuilding the trust, relationships, and confidence needed to transition into the next stage of life.
